Christmas 2020 Office Closure

In line with an increasing number of companies allied with the construction industry and affording those staff who worked through the pandemic a well-earned break, the Such Salinger Peters offices will be closing on Friday 18th December and reopening again on Monday 4th January 2021. Lewisham Hospital Project

Such Salinger Peters were pleased to assist Hazel and West Ltd and Catfoss with the design and setting out of the foundations for the temporary Pediatric Unit at the Lewisham Hospital.

Lockdown 2.0

Such Salinger Peters are still working through COVID lockdown 2.0 undertaking site visits as needed within COVID guidance. We have a strong workforce in place working from both the office and from home to assist with any enquiries and continuing to progress new and existing jobs.

90 Hectare Contributing Area Survey

90 hectare Contributing Area survey undertaken for Anglian Water near Peterborough utilising two site teams across the villages of Stilton and Folkesworth. The specification required all properties within the catchment to be visited to determine the destination of the rainfall run off.

Steph Howard gains Engineering Technician Status with the Institution of Civil Engineers

Steph Howard gains EngTech with the ICE. After successful completion of her HNC in Civil Engineering, Steph has been working towards an End Point Assessment with the ICE. Steph had her interview with the ICE in August 2020 and received successful results in September to advise she has passed and is now a member of the ICE at EngTech level.

ISOQAR Audit

TESuch Salinger Peters passed their ISO9001:2015 annual QMS audit successfully in early July. The audit this year was undertaken remotely by ISOQARR with all documentation submitted and reviewed through video conferencing and e-mail.XT

Return from Furlough

With the introduction of part-time furlough, further members of the team have now returned to the office whereby better coverage of projects is facilitated whilst sharing the workload amongst more staff.

Steph Howard Achieves HNC in Civil Engineering

In June 2020, Steph Howard received the great news of gaining a Merit in her HNC for Civil Engineering, therefore passing the course and is now a professionally qualified Civil Engineering Technician.

Such Salinger Peters Staff begin to return to the office

As the economy starts to pick up, a small number of Such Salinger Peters staff arrive back at the office following a period of furlough, to pick up the increasing workload. Such Salinger Peters have introduced measures to ensure a COVID safe office, including social distancing and hand wash stations.

Covid-19 Update

Such Salinger Peters have closed the office due to Covid-19 and the majority of staff have been put on furlough, any ongoing projects are being undertaken by Jim Peters.

Covid-19 Update

Such Salinger Peters are preparing to close the office in light of the unfolding pandemic and staff are beginning to work from home as per Government Covid-19 guidelines. Mold IAS for Welsh Water

Such Salinger Peters Impermeable Area Survey team undertakes multiple catchment IAS for Welsh Water in Mold which includes manhole surveys requiring confined space entry.

Jake Bareham joins the ICE

In January 2020, Jake Bareham obtained his ICE membership and has enrolled on the Such Salinger Peters ICE Approved Training Scheme to continue his professional development towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.

Swanage Railway Carriage Shed Project

Avon Construction awarded the contract and commences Work at Herston Carriage Shed for Swanage railway.

CASE STUDY 1

The project involved the design of a replacement structural steel deck jetty with runway beams allowing the boat crane hoist to lift boats in and out of the water.

The existing concrete runway structure was starting to fail in areas with visible signs of cracking.

Such Salinger Peters were commissioned to produce a structural design for a replacement steel framed jetty sat on steel circular piles.

CASE STUDY 2

During the winter of 2012 heavy rainfall destabilised a section of flood defence embankment along the River Brit in Bridport. Due to restricted access through privately owned land the Environment Agency opted to install a long term flood defence solution to avoid the need to return to the site every few years.

Such Salinger Peters were commissioned to produce a detailed design for a replacement flood wall. In order to replace the existing flood bank with a flood wall the topography of the bank was altered creating a much less steep bank. This would allow the Environment Agency easier access to the site to carry out maintenance.

CASE STUDY 3

This scheme was a community project for affordable housing on a brownfield site on the outskirts of Buckland Newton. http://www.lyddenmeadow.co.uk

Such Salinger Peters (SSP) worked with the contractor C.G. Fry and Son to gain consent for this farmstead style development and provided a biodiversity survey to support the planning application. SSP also detailed wildlife mitigation measures during works and recommended ecological enhancements to gain Code 4 Sustainable Homes certification for the scheme.

Such Salinger Peters were commissioned to undertake an ecological assessment to provide advice for a site in Poole.

The project required a site survey and provided a report with advice in line with guidance. A summary of details for the work follows;
